PRE-DEPARTURE
Arrival
From Incheon International Airport (IIA)
Incheon International Airport (IIA) is the main international airport in Korea. Most international flights arrive at IIA.
IIA is located in Incheon, which is about 28km west of Seoul, the country's capital city.
Sogang University is located at Sinchon, Seoul, and is about 50-60 minutes away from IIA by means of transportation such as airport limousine bus, airport train (AREX) or taxi.
SISP Pick-up Service
Upon arrival, SISP buddies will assist you at both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. They will escort you to the Airport Limousine Bus.
They will greet you at designated locations to welcome you and help you take the bus to the drop-off station, which is Mapo Subway Station (Seoul Garden Hotel).
At the drop-off station, a shuttle to Sogang University will be run for every 30 minutes from 10AM to 7PM.
Detailed guidelines will be shared in the pre-departure handbook which will be distributed in May.
By Airport Limousine Bus
The limousine bus, numbered 6002, will take you to Sinchon Station. It will take about 50 minutes to get to Sinchon by the limousine bus.
The fare for the limousine is about KRW 17,000 (about USD 13). Sogang University is a 10 to 15 minute walk from the station.
When you get off at Sinchon Station, it is best to take a taxi from the bus stop to Gonzaga Dormitory considering the baggage that you may have.
You may tell the taxi driver to drop you off at the rear gate of Sogang University (pronounced "Seogang-Dae hoo-moon"). Gonzaga Dormitory is right next to the rear gate.
By Airport Train (AREX)
Another way to get to Sogang University is to take the airport train AREX (https://www.arex.or.kr/main.do) to Hongik University or Gong Deok Station.
It takes about 40 to 50 minutes and costs about KRW 5,000. From Hongik University or Gong Deok Station, take a taxi and ask the taxi driver to drop you off at the rear gate of Sogang University (pronounced "Seogang-Dae hoo-moon"). It takes 10 to 15 minutes depending on the traffic conditions and costs about KRW 5,000 to 6,000. (The closer station to Sogang University would be Gong Deok Station.)
By Taxi
You may also take a taxi on the first floor of IIA at the passenger terminal between platform "4C" and "8C" (Terminal 1), “1C” and “5D” (Terminal 2).
There are three kinds of taxis: Standard, Deluxe and Jumbo (up to 9 passengers).
A Standard taxi will cost at least KRW 60,000 (about USD 45-50), while the fare of the Deluxe or Jumbo Cab costs much more.
In addition to the above fare, you must pay the highway toll about KRW 7,100. Make sure to carry enough Korean currency with you because taxi fares may vary depending on the traffic conditions and not all taxis take credit cards.
From Gimpo International Airport
Gimpo International Airport is another international airport serving Seoul mainly from Japan and China.
Most international flights from Tokyo Haneda and Shanghai Hongqiao arrive at Gimpo International Airport.
There are no direct express buses from Gimpo International Airport to our school area. Therefore, it would be best to take the subway or taxi.
By Airport Train (AREX)
Take the AREX and get off at Gong Deok Station. It takes about 30 minutes. At Gong Deok Station, use Exit 2 and turn to the right and you will be able to see a taxi station.
Ask the taxi driver to drop you off at the rear gate of Sogang University (pronounced "Seogang-Dae hoo-moon").
It takes about 10 to 15 minutes and costs about KRW 5,000 to 6,000.
By Taxi
A more expensive but simple way from Kimpo airport is to take a taxi from the airport.
There are two types of taxis—Regular and Deluxe. Regular taxis can be found at the number 1 platform in front of the ground floor of the domestic line office building.
Black 'Deluxe Taxis' with yellow caps are usually more reliable than Regular taxis and are more expensive.
Deluxe taxis can be found at the number 2 platform. Regular taxis cost about KRW 50,000 to 60,000 while Deluxe taxis cost a lot more.
Make sure to carry enough Korean currency with you because taxi fares may vary depending on the traffic conditions and not all taxis take credit cards.
